finished sewing the ingot 84, the F-1. I did using the technique of rotary cutter and application.

I show you this bundle of reproduction fabrics is my latest addition to the DJ, I took the Fat Quarter shop sales last year. The Telitas by Judie Rothermel are great for our quilt and do not have to buy by the meter because each fat quarter you can take several ingot. As my quilt is colorful as their Telitas me come cool.

I started by cutting the squares to make the half square triangles. Four squares of 3 1 / 2 "background fabric and four of 3 1 / 2" contrasting fabric. I approached
right sides of a square of clear material and a dark cloth. I drew a line on the diagonal and sewed on both sides to within 1 / 4 ". I cut on the diagonal that was drawn.

With the eight HST resulting from the previous step formed two new blocks of grinders.

These two new blocks used them as follows. One of them was the new block of ground on which they would apply the octagonal shape.
cut the other block an octagonal shape with a margin of less than 1 / 4 ".

Apply an octagonal shape cut out of the blocks on the block reserved for background taking care not to match the color.
prepare the four rombitos that apply in the last step. This figure pasted on cardboard and cut it out without margin. As in my case I used the technique of needle turn scored as the diamonds on the dark side of the cloth and cut out with little margin.
booked the four diamonds.

arranged the triangles on which the rombitos apply. To do this I cut two squares of 3 1 / 2 "background fabric and cut by its diagonal earning four triangles.
Block F-1 measures 4.5" in size. This I used to know how much square the block was the first step.

DSC01243

According to the graph of the above photo should have a figure with a final bill (without margins) 3 1 / 8 ". If the 3 1 / 8" will add 1 / 2 "for seam allowances should square the block to 3 5 / 8", but I was wrong and I cut a smaller size .....

The real measure should be square block is 3 5 / 8 ", or a hairline more than the photo shows.

But just wanted to show the pictures to see how balancing a block.
Remember to place the ranking rule the diagonal.

here rather than 3 1 / 2 "should be 3 5 / 8", a hairline more ....

Cosí external triangles, stitching the two opposing first and then the other two opposite.

DSC01253

the triangle to place the tip is centered aligned with the center of the block.

When sewing the triangles should be outside the ends of the block coincides best with the top ...

Apply invisible triangles and thread to stitch as close to the dark canvas.
Ready, another ingot more finished!!
